tesa 4671 - 49.2mm x 50mis the natural starting point. It's used for securing cables, taping down floor mics, fixing props, and concealing seams along the front edge of the stage. Its matte black surface doesn't reflect stage lights – crucial when camera angles cover the stage floor and visible tape in the shot is unacceptable.
tesa 4671 Fluorescentis the other side of the coin: UV-active tape that is visible in blacklight and darkness. Used to mark the outer edge of the stage floor, actors' positions, and emergency exits – a standard tool in professional stage production. Etab 3365 Matte Cloth Tapeis manufactured specifically for stage use with a matte finish and high tensile strength. Suitable for attaching stage decks, sealing seams, and securing hanging materials in moving set designs. Etab 3336 All-purpose Cloth Tapecomplements this with a more economical option for backstage fixings and internal marking.
For the highest demands on clean removal and minimal residue on stage decks, Nichiban 1200is the Japanese alternative – exceptional handling and tearing feel preferred by many stage technicians.
tesa 4964is the choice for securing carpets and runners on the stage floor to prevent movement during the show. The product withstands intense traffic and vibration and removes without damaging the underlying deck material. tesa 4939is a more cost-effective option for shorter exposure times and lighter fixings.
tesa 53988and Advance AT7are used for electrical installations and cable marking backstage. Electrically insulating, temperature-resistant, and easy to tear by hand – standard products in every electrician's kit. Advance AT7offers softer handling and performs better in cold conditions, making it the primary choice for outdoor stages and colder venues.
WashiPro Etab 136 – Yellowis the standard choice for actor positions and cue markings on the stage floor. It is clearly visible, removes without damaging the stage deck, and leaves no adhesive residue. Etab 610is used for quick markings during rehearsals that are removed before the premiere.
Which tape is least visible on camera?
tesa 4671in black with a matte finish is the standard. Avoid glossy tape in stage contexts – it reflects stage lights and is clearly visible in the shot.
What is fluorescent tape used for on stage?
Primarily for safety markings and actor positions in dark environments. tesa 4671 Fluorescentis activated by UV light and is clearly visible without disturbing the audience's experience during the performance.
Can gaffer tape damage a stage deck?
It depends on the exposure time and the deck's material. For shorter productions, tesa 4671works excellently. If in doubt – always test on an inconspicuous area first, or choose Nichiban 1200with its gentle removal.
